Meet the Founder

Mrs Thilaga

Mrs. M. Thilaga's journey from humble beginnings to becoming a beacon of hope and progress in her community is inspirational. With roots in a rural and impoverished family, where her parents worked as construction workers, she learned the values of hard work and resilience early on. Despite financial and social challenges, her parents prioritized her education, supporting her in completing a B.Com. After marriage, she also studied for a one-year PCP Computer and Tailoring course. She completed skill training ToT (Trainer of Trainer) for Retail, BFSI (Banking and Financial Serives and Insurance), and Accounts Executive and earned certificates for Community-Based Disaster Preparedness (CBDP), St. John Ambulance, and Violence against Women. ...
Her first-hand experience of the hardships faced by rural families ignited a passion for community development. She began her social work by providing small but impactful assistance to school-going children, helping them with educational resources and mentoring. These efforts, though modest, laid the foundation for her larger vision of community development: self-reliant women with a dignified and sustainable quality of life.  2010 Mrs. Thilaga founded the Safe Hands Human Resources Organization to channel her dedication to community development. As Director, she focused on empowering rural individuals through education, vocational training, disaster management, and social support. Under her leadership, Safe Hands has become vital to the rural community, addressing poverty and education's root causes. Her initiatives aim to improve literacy rates, provide vocational training, and ensure resources for children and young adults. Mrs. Thilaga's journey exemplifies how one person's dedication can transform lives, demonstrating the power of education, community support, and empathetic leadership.

Need Volunteers

We often struggle to run our programs and to raise funds from donors. Many staff members are volunteers themselves and receive no or a very small salary. We urgently need support from our volunteers to work in funds-raising, proposal writing, organizational development, IT, administration, community development, reports, and case studies. It is also a great opportunity to meet people from around the world who constantly visit us, and exchange experiences.
